The last of the truly old-school Big Bentleys, the Brooklands was made between 1992 and 1998 as a four-door sedan, then briefly resurrected between 2008 and 2011 as a luxurious and spacious four-seat, two-door grand tourer. It’s every bit as regal as you’d expect, and of course, comes with a monster V8 under the hood. Want to own one of these beauties? It’s a study in luxury done right, and a vehicle that automakers can learn a lot from, even today. You need not worry about valeting this car either, as the valet parking key with integrated key alarm is included with the sale of this opulent way to travel.
Exterior and Interior
This 2009 Bentley Brooklands stretches all of 213 inches long, which is amazing for a two-door car. Sporting a two-tone gray and black paint scheme, the car appears to float along the road, while its large alloy wheels with silver center caps carry it with grace. The car also sports a 3D Bentley Flying B mascot that’s retractable into the radiator grille, much like their competitor Rolls-Royce does with its mascot. Inside, this car’s sheer length endows it with a truly spacious cabin that rivals those of proper, full-size, four-door cars. One of the key measures of luxury is space, and this 2009 Bentley Brooklands serves it up in spades. Four adults will travel in comfort, with multi-zone climate control keeping them happy. There’s premium leather with burr walnut veneer, veneered surrounds to some of the switches such as for the cruise control, a proper sound system, a reverse camera, a leather-wrapped gear shift knob and so much more. There’s even a set of branded umbrellas fitted within the trunk.
Engine
Powering all this luxury is a whisper-quiet 6.75-liter twin-turbo V8. The engine can reportedly make 530hp and 774lb-ft of torque, which, at the time, was the highest torque figure produced by a production petrol engine in a car. Power goes to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a semi-automatic manual mode for keen drivers to enjoy. The top speed is over 180mph, while zero to sixty can be done in just 5 seconds if the conditions are right.
